For the avid enthusiasts of Arnis, it was good news to know that our martial arts was already declared a national sports. Thanks largely to the efforts of Sen. Miguel Zubiri (a former world champion) and Mr. Raymund Velayo (the national arnis' association president).
In General Santos City, this sports is still in its infancy stage however, there is a growing interest for it to grow popularly side by side with Taekwondo and Judo. Given the national interest of Arnis as a national sports and its potential to be included in the physical education curriculum across the basic and higher educational levels, then arnis would truly blossom.
Mr. Eduardo Rizon is a local arnis afficionado. He believes its popularity will come in due time.
